New Year New Me?

At the end of every year, like most people, I begin my New Year’s Resolution list.  It contains almost an exact repeat of all the things I had good intentions of but never completed the previous year…Bummer!  I finally got to a point where I quit with the list and began a goal sheet for things I wanted to see happen (same thing, who am I kidding here) but alas it didn’t really motivate me anymore than a month or so, like most who pay for the gym membership get all psyched up, and then life goes back to normal.

This year has been a bit different and I’ve started laying the basic framework of what I want out of life, which is tough when you are a broke newlywed and recent college grad with a degree that was supposed to send numerous job offers your way to counter the massive amount of debt incurred with no problem.  Low and behold I’m still waiting…

A broken piggy bank to symbolize being broke as a newly web and college student.
Does this mean no Chick-Fil-A?

I’ve started to realize until you find what you’re passionate about, you can’t really expect yourself to stick with something.  Especially when it requires creating a new routine.  I think we genuinely have to want a change for things to get better.  I noticed, I complained a lot about my circumstances, but any move I made to correct them would seemingly lead to a dead end.

A Dead End sign, making you question what to do next.
Dead End’s are often the start of a great adventure!

I’m starting to learn maybe what I’m looking for can’t be found in an online job description.  I’m looking for self-fulfillment and a way to make a difference in my own unique way.  Figuring myself out has been a royal battle but I am taking steps to figure me out.  The next step is just finding out how to turn that into a successful career doing something I love.

Life is an ever evolving journey.
Your life is an ever-evolving journey, trust that God’s got you!

I truly hope we all find this in one way or another. And if you’re on the struggle bus wondering where you fit in at, just know you’re not alone. Every year we get a better understanding of who we are and what we have to offer.   The new year isn’t going to be a new me but a better me and I challenge you to be the same!
